Whilst we exist to take reports from callers on issues that may be affecting them in the workplace, our role is to connect the reporters with their organisation where they feel they cannot speak to someone internally on matters of a sensitive and sometimes traumatising nature. We have had a few sporting client reporters call into the hotline to make a report regarding historical sexual assault matters. In each of these cases, the reporters have called their respective hotlines angry, distrusting, and feeling helpless. Reports of this nature take time and often are the result of several engagements with the reporter to enable them to tell their story in their own words.
In each of these cases, we have taken the time to build a rapport with the reporter and explained to them the process, ensuring they understood that they were in control. In both cases, we worked with the reporters to take their report and ensure the client organisation was made aware of the report when it was received. Following the report being moved to the client, we assisted to ensure that the reporter engaged with the client to continue to have their matter looked into and resolved.
In each of these cases, our role did not end when the report was transferred to the client. We acted as a conduit to ensure the reporter connected with the client. Despite making a report, there was trepidation on the part of the reporter to connect with the client. After a call from our agents to the reporter to assure them the person reaching out from the client was a good person wanting to help, the reporter then responded to the client to engage with them. This is all part of the service we provide in ensuring your people have a voice on matters affecting them.
On each occasion, the reporter has come back to our agents to express their gratitude at being taken seriously and treated with respect. We cannot undo what was done to them, but we can ensure their story is told to those who may be able to do something about it.
Leave us a message and we will get back to you to book a meeting:
